Dayara Bugyal has the endless beautiful meadows.

Dayara Bugyal falls within the two most beautiful high altitude meadows in India. For hundred of years shepherds from far have been taking their flock to graze at Dayara. This trail takes adventure enthusiasts to some of the scenic open lands and thick forests, ending at a vast region of lush green meadow. In winters the area receives heavy snowfall and the whole region is covered by a thick blanket of snow. As a result, the endless meadows turned into snow dunes makes an ideal spot for skiing.

The virgin landscape provides many opportunities for photographers as Dayara Bugyal looks different from every angle. Hence, the ideal short trek in the Himalayas with such beauty and the local untouched culture of the nearby villages makes this a perfect trek for beginners.

Itinerary

Day 01 : Drive Rishikesh to Raithal (2286m) via Uttarkashi; 223 km, 7 hour drive

On our first day we drive from Rishikesh to Raithal, a small quaint village in the Himalayas. The journey goes through mountain roads, with breathtaking views as you drive higher with amazing landscapes of the lower Himalayas. After a drive of around 7 to 8 hours we reach Raithal where our team welcomes us.

Day 02 : Acclimatization day at Raithal Village.

Raithal is a small village situated in Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand State. The afternoon is yours to explore the nearby village and get a glimplse of the peaceful, untouched life of village people, a world far removed from modernity. Village kids scuttle about around their homes, while the women thrashing wheat while some tend to their cultivation. It is a fascinating moment for trekkers to witness such unseen events in a far away world. Overnight stay in tents or hotel.

*2 yoga sessions on day 2.

Day 03 : Trek Raithal to Ghuyin (2536m); 4 Km, 2 to 3 hour.

Ghuyin is a small meadow and our first campsite in the lap of the mountains. It has some amazing views of Srikanth and Gangotri group of peaks. The hike to Ghuyin is steep for the first two kilometres and after that it relaxes a little. On the way up we pass through beautiful village houses, some of which are really very old and ancient. There are also few shepherd huts in Ghuyin. We rest here for the day.

*2 yoga sessions on day 3.

Day 04 : Trek Ghuyin to Dayara Bugyal (3383m); 4 Km, 2-3 hour.

As you end the ascend at Dayara, the vast meadow unfolds in front of you with the mighty Himalayas looming in the background. Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II & III , Jaonli, Draupadi ka Danda, Black peak, Bandarpunch and many other unnamed peaks are visible from Dayara Bugyal meadow.

*2 yoga sessions on day 4.

Day 05 : Trek Dayara Bugyal to Bakaria Top (3658m) and back; 6 Km, 5 hour.

Dayara Bugyal is divided into many small bugyals and Bakaria top is one of them. The views from the top take your breath away. Snow capped mountains, Valley deep below, towns as far as Uttarkashi can be seen from the top. It offers a 360 degree panoramic view of the entire greater Himalayas. Spend some quality time at this place and cherish the mesmeric views of the surrounding environs. Return to Dayara for overnight stay.

*2 yoga sessions on day 5.

Day 06 : Trek Dayara Bugyal to Raithal; 8 km, 4 hour.

Post breakfast, we’ll descend to Raithal for the final stretch of our on foot excursion. The well marked downhill hike passes through the beautiful forest of oak, Cedar and rhododendron trees, the same way you hiked up. Reach Raithal for afternoon lunch and rest here for the last day. Overnight stay in tents or guest house.

*2 yoga sessions on day 6.

You will book your international ticket into Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). You can either take a direct cab from Delhi to Rishikesh (75 USD) or you can fly to Dehradun Airport (DED). Our school driver will be at the airport to receive you and you’ll reach the school in 45 minutes.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Yes, your pick up from Dehradun Airport (DED) is free and included in the retreat fee. If you need a taxi from Delhi to Rishikesh, it’ll cost you 75 USD* and we’ll arrange for you. For your departure you may book with us before leaving.

What are the accommodations like?

On different nights we’ll have the experience of different accommodations, from tents to hotels to home-stays, you’ll get to know a different part of the world. Please check itinerary for more information.

Are gratuities included?

Gratuities are not included in the price of your trip. However if you receive exceptional service by staff or other employees helping you throughout the trip then an additional tip is always appreciated. We suggest a budget of around $5-$10/day per guest (Personal Choice).

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

All retreats include a $130 non-refundable / non-transferable deposit, which is required to hold your spot on the trip.

Do I need a Visa to visit India?

It depends on country to country. Please check it online before applying for visa directly.

Do I need vaccinations?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to India. However, it is better to consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

What if I am traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

Do I need travel insurance?

All payments to Rama Space are non-refundable & non-transferable. The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. However, going to the mountains is always a beautiful adventure.
